So after problems with the Cut 40 and the 13amp/20amp saga I went for the Parkside option. This came with a 16amp industrial plug fitted. It made more sense as I have a separate supply box with two 32 amp outlets.
However, I used an extension plug and cord (16amp 2.5mm thick) because of the distance between the outlet and my set up. There is a delay, a very long delay. I whacked the settings all the way up to 40amp as I wanted to see how it would cut 6mm mild steel. At one point I thought, not another dodgy one. Then it just worked. Did a fairly decent job for my first time. However, there is still a long delay whereby I press the torch, air comes out, the cutter makes its normal generator noise, stops, I press it again and it fires up.
Is this normal, or is this something to do with the extension cable? Is the cable too thick (even though it says it’s rated for 16 amp).
I won’t always be cutting 6mm plate unless I need to put a small hole in it, but it’s better to have it and not need it, etc!
Thanks
