Change of career...?

Right, our lass has just bought a house. It comes with a 40 x 15 foot workshop from which the existing owner runs a wrought-iron gate/fence business.
He's looking to retire and was proposing to sell the various machinery off... until I suggest he leaves it where it is and I'll cross his palm with a sum
Now the funkiest bit of kit is a hydraulic 'metalworker' - a combined shear/ punch etc. that I suspect will be the most valuable item there.
Apart from the fact it's cream I can't recall seeing a maker's name on it.
Wondering how much it might be worth. All the other kit I can guesstimate but I can't seem to pin this down.
In essence I'd be looking to take the entire business, not necessarily as a full-time thing, but it'd make things a lot quicker to have the proper kit even if I was to do it in my spare time.
Of course the workshop would have other duties as car/bike projects dictated...

I've got one o them! Used machine, and depending on condition, anywhere between 2 to 3 grand.
They will run all day, chomping through steel as fast as you can put it in.

As WP said, 5 thou is a dealers starting price for bids, the price includes a good profit, removal/transport costs and storage.

If your lass has moved/purchased the house/workshop already, there could also be storage charges in the workshop for the said items or a time limit for removal.

If hes retiring he can only really sell to a dealer under the current climate there won't be many buyers, theres a fair few workshops closed lately that have only been offered scrap value.

Cream, with yellow bits, probably a Geka.....good machines, they come in quite a few sizes, small ones as paul says, 2k, big ones 4/5k
See what tooling is with it. Anything other than standard punches/dies...?

That's pretty much exactly what he uses it for! Railings, gates... I checked-out Geka's website and the inteesting thing is that some of the bigger ones can be used for notching round tube...

Yes, theres a punch and die that s for doing that. Quite expensive i believe.

The seller said to me that he would just advertise all the equipment unless I wanted any of it; I suggested he might sell me the lot to save time and effort. I was thinking that a job lot price might be more favourable than me walking around going 'keep'... 'keep'...'sell'...
I could always sell on anything I didn't use/need/already have.

Off the top of my head (apart from the metalworker)... MIG, DC TIG, profile roller, bike lift, hydraulic press, tube bender, bandsaws, grinders etc etc... plus twin chain blocks sliding on an RSJ that should make body-off repairs a doddle
Room for a 2-poster as well...

Sounds like a handy thing to have lying around, great quick way to make cleats for structural steel projects etc and if you supplied cleats to construction company who could benefit from the time saving it has a potential to pay for it self.
