This is driving me mental !!
My central heating has a problem with the 3 port diverter valve.
It's a fully pumped system with a Y plan configuration using a Honeywell V4073A
motorised mid postion valve.
All was ok until 4 or 5 days ago, now, although the heating runs ok, boiler is fine etc, I cannot stop the hot water !! Even with the HW switched off at the programmer the water heats regardless, when the CH is on !!
At the same time the fault appeared I noticed that when the heating has reached the required temperature and the room stat turns the system off I can't hear the valve return by spring like it used to.
Took a look at the valve and it stays in one position regardless of room stat, programmer etc. It does motor though, if I disconnect the neutral feed it returns by spring as normal, then when I reconnect the neutral it motors back to fully against the end stop with the 2 micro switches.
Checking the wiring there is something wierd though, the white and grey connections are connected together in a terminal strip in the wiring box for the system !!
Now they should be seperate as one is the CH the other is HW, but it was working ok until 4 or 5 days ago !!
WTF is going on ??!!
This is costing me a fortune as I'm in the sticks on LPG cylinders !!
