CGA600 (MAPP/Propane mini-bottle) seals?

Went to get the MAPP (rothenberger knock off) torch earlier, and it's refusing to seal onto bottles.

Looking at the o-ring in the torch it's well past it's best, and that's presumably why it's not sealing.

For the life of me I can't find any info on the size and shape of o-ring / elastomer washer to dig one out of the many boxes of crap I hoarde for exactly this kind of situation.

Given CGA600 is a standard fitting I would have assumed the information was freely available, but apparently not.

The CGA will let me see it for a mere $4600, which is only about $4500 more than buying a new torch tomorrow morning would cost.

The washer in the torch is merely a cushion providing mechanical support for the torch, when it is screwed onto the cylinder. The actual seal is formed by a small o-ring set in a groove in the cylinder receptacle that seals against the spigot on the torch. Check closely the spigot that goes into the cylinder for damage. Has it been scratched longitudinally, or bent? Or has it become unscrewed from the torch body? On a Bernzomatic torch, the spigot doesn't unscrew easily. It seems to be threadlocked in place.

The fitting on torch body appears to be in perfect condition, but both the cylinders I have tried were given to me by a mate who'd had them sat around for ages...

Possibly the cylinders are duds now, will have to have a look.

In any case, I need to do some flame spraying tomorrow, so I will just sort the other job out whilst I have the bottles set up.

There was a recall of MAPP cylinders some years ago, because of a potentially fatal flaw. That was something to do with the neck construction, I think. There has also been discussion about leaking seals and valves, which may be more relevant to your case. Maybe you have a couple of duff cylinders. There's been quite a bit of discussion about this kind of thing since. As with much that's written on the internet, interpret with caution.
