Ceramic Nozzle Experiences?

I bought 2 ceramic nozzles from eBay, to try on on my Impax IM-MIG 120A welder.

They are slightly shorter in length than the usual metal conical nozzle, so are handy for using with flux cored wire, as the weld pool isn't as hidden.

The experience I have with them is the following... They clog up quicker with spatter, which also seems to stick more, as it's unglazed. I'm sure this may be sorted with some tip dip.

Any one else had experience of them?

That's because they're for TIG Welding not MIG.

If your using fluxcore wire you don't need a gas shield for the torch, only if your using dual shield wire with gas.

You'd think so, but definitely sold as MIG nozzles.

My thought here as to why you don't see ceramic for MIG.
MIG uses copper that dissipates heat much better than ceramic.
Keeping cooler I think, is key to less spatter.

It was only £4 for the two of them, from China. I've got proper spare metal nozzles there. It was worth a punt.

I'm assuming that these ceramic shrouds are designed for the really cheap and nasty gasless welders that have permanently live torches and being ceramic they help prevent stray arcing and arc flash especially in the hands of inexperienced users.
