Cellulose...Or Not??

In a previous thread I was told to test my paint with cellulose thinner to find out if it is a cellulose finish prior to repainting.
I've done this but there's only a very slight residue on the cotton wool bud despite a fairly hard rub. Am I expecting too much or is this still enough to indicate it is cellulose??

what car is it and is it original paint ?

if it is celly, you would know. The paint would go all gooey, and lots of colour would come off. I presume there's no blistering etc. where you attacked it.

did you say it was a glassfibre car? if so it could be gelcoat, or more likely it's solid 2k (no laquer). I think, but I may be wrong, that celly over well cured 2k will pose no issues.

i never got any colour off my boat and that was gelcoat so probably 2k

Hi Snooper/Series2,
The Car is a Fibreglass 1961 TVR Grantura Mk11 but has had a couple of colour changes by previous owners so I would have thought it unlikely it's Gel coat. I want to return it to original colour & due to 1st time spraying plus health Issues with 2k, thought I'd go with cellulose. As said in the other thread the current coat/s are relatively sound condition other than the odd blister (aprox 30mm diameter being the worst) so was hoping to make these good with filler if possible & then overspray. Your thoughts welcome. Cheers in advance.
