Cebora Pocket Pulse 100

Hi, I have recently gotten the above mentioned TIG welder and being totally new to TIG I haven't a clue which Tungsten electrodes I need or the correct type of filler rod. Through research I've realised that there is diffrent 'bands' you can get for the tungsten electrodes such as red and grey etc. I'm only going to be working with mild steel and to practice with, probably scraps of 1.5mm - (is this too think for this machine?).

Eventually, I will probably be using it for my restoration project - a Citroen DS whose bodywork is a lot thinner than 1.5mm!!

So, question: any recommendations on the type of filler rod I need and tungsten electrode, both for 1.5mm mild steel and whatever DS bodywork is? Here are some pics of the welder:

When I get these consumables along with a bottle of argon and get it fired up, I will probably be back on here asking how to set the pulse and the amps correctly

Hi, I use to have one of these welders.

For your mild steel (it won't do ali because its a DC only unit), use red-tipped tungstens (thoriated). I'd buy a few bits and bobs for it - different collets and collet holders etc for different diameter tungstens. Also some spare ceramic shrouds of various sizes.

If you just want to use what you have already, unscrew the torch - shroud & back cap, then the collet holder (under the shroud) and the collet (inside the collet holder). You can see what tungsten is in there already, and order some more of those, but its worth getting some more bits for spares and to experiment with sizes etc.

1.5 mm is WAY within the capacity of this unit - I'ev blown holes in much thicker stuff with it! (I was learning! - still am...).

It is a scratch start unit, so you need to touch the tungsten to the work piece to start the arc. Play with the trigger, you can control gas flow separately to current by pressing it lightly for gas and harder for power, so in this way you can control pre- and post-flow of argon manually. You should hear a slight click from inside the main box when then trigger is pressed enough to start the current flow.

Don't fart about with the pulse until you can lay down autogenious (no filler) 'beads, followed by beads using filler, followed by butt joints, lap joints and fillets. Also try it with thicker and thinner stuff. Don't let your car be the first thin material you work on!

Filler for mild steel should be - wait for it... - mild steel filler rod!

Just play with the amps so you get an idea of what the settings on the machine mean in real life. there's no substitute for trigger time!

Hi Mate, Had any results since you went out and purchased your consumables.???????..
Let Me know how you got on, I have just bought one as well, 2011 though .lol.
So how did you get on!, anybody else have any dealings with the Cebora 100 Tig.. Torch looks a little clumsy, could I change this for a wp9 with gas on/off.
Come on guys need info.lol.

Yes I did see the date, but thought somebody might come back after my query about the change of torch: WP9 with gas turn off. in other words change the wires and put a dinze plug in too. any replys welcome.
