Ce mark

Hi I have asked about the ce mark and have had some advice and have looked at the links and reading material but still bit confused you can read this information on it in many dif ways?

If I'm just seeing with in uk do I actually need to have this ce mark???

Also there is Norma plate on the side with serial mark I Beth that u need to have this for insurance and own details but what about having weight and such details you find on other implements do I need these things buy law?.

If you are selling a complete product in the UK, or anywhere in the EU then yes, you should have the CE mark.

If what you are selling is not a complete system, e.g. it is a conveyor integrated in a packaging line, then you would issue a certificate of incorporation.

This would mean your item complies with EU legislation. Most items are self certified, you apply the CE mark, but you could be asked for the technical file for your item to prove that the design is safe and complies.

Some items require a third party specialist to certify your design, I think presses were one of them but it escapes me the other types.

In truth though I think CE compliance is very variable across the EU and also misused or not used by quite a few manufacturers.

If you're making and installing automated gates they need to be...

"CE marked by the supplier in accordance with the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC"

i did a course on it the other week.
