CE approved

So I have a couple of things I plan on making over the next couple of years, will need a good bit of tweaking .

These ideas will no doubt need to come with a CE approved stamp. My question is......whats the route to gaining this? Do I build it and have someone look over it and tell me the potential safty hazards?
An idea on costs? Ball park?
And time frame?

Greatful for any help/ pointers

There are certainly companies who will look and advise.

I'd suggest doing it at the design stage as a first go though.

Not everything needs it - so that's the first check.

I ensure I design to the relevant standards etc we claim we comply with in order for us to be allowed to self-certify.

you only have to have things CE/UKCA approved if you're selling to a customer. If you're doing yourself.... then CE isn't absolutely required, but it's the easiest way to prove to building control that you know what you're doing, you know, if you're putting up your own personal skyscraper also for insurance.

Plenty people just crack on and get stuff done. It's only a problem if it all goes wrong.

Cost - budget £10k for start to finish for normal sizes of steel and most smaller contract requirements in EXC2.
If you need it for a contract right now, you could achieve it within a couple of months and have it applied back to the start date of application... IIRC.

Feel free to send me a DM if you need any help along with some more info on what type things you are making.
Are they classed as machinery?
Do they have motors, moving parts, pneumatic or hydraulic components etc?
If not machinery then are they structures / vessels / lifting gear etc?
All of these have their own application standards and different regs you need to follow.
We can help companies with all of this as consultants as well qualify weld procedures / welders and perform non destructive or destructive testing as required.

i have got 1090 this year and CDL are awsome .

CE is going to be the last stamp you need - plenty of other requirements needing to be met before. Pilgrim's link to Machinery Safety needs a good read!
