Quoting for a replacement cattle grid at the moment, what wall thickness of 100mm tube should I be using. It has to be able to take 8 wheelers running over it on a daily basis.
Yeah, there are 3 beams supporting the rails. I was wondering what wall thickness was required to withstand getting flattened by the trucks, 10mm wall tube? Needs to be round cos the sheep can walk across the angle iron ones!
How about putting the support beams under the points that the lorry wheels will be pressing on? You will still need the same wall thickness but might be able to go down on the tube size.
I would agree with the idea of putting the support beams under the wheel path. But the frame is already set in the ground, I'm making a replacement drop in grille.
Have had a 12tonne industrial loader, tractors and dumpers as well as a seriously heavy truck full with chips and tar over it over the last 5-10 years with no problems at all.
