A classic car owner on another forum has broken his exhaust manifold where the flange bolts to the cylinder head. He is hunting around for a new manifold and struggling to locate one.
I was going to suggest welding it but I don’t have the experience to advise him.
I have a mig/arc and Oxy acetylene equipment and would offer to help.
In the old day, I was told that cast iron had to be heated up before welding, does this still apply and if so how would you heat it up?
Any advice on best equipment to use, best rod or alternative wire, and best method would be really helpful.
