Cast iron slab for griddle

Any ideas where I could get an A4 ish size slab of cast iron say 4-6mm thick?

Any could it be milled around the edge to create a "moat" to catch run-off?

I want to make a griddle as I'm having trouble finding one to suit my induction hob.

I think at the moment Aldi have one of those Tepanaki plates that will operate on an induction hob, If so its ready made for your job.

We got a heavy square cast iron griddle pan about that size from the shops, you could cut the sides down and leave enough for the already existing moat.

Fairly sure it was suitable for all heats

I bought one from ??? The range? Asda? IKEA? Aldi? Somewhere like that - cast iron plate, smooth one side, ribbed on the other. Made to fit over two gas hobs.
Wasn't expensive. (£15? Ish)

Got given one of one of these 15 years ago. Still going strong. It also makes for an excellent forearm workout.

Catches all the fat etc, and has a handy pouring spout for disposal.

If you have a plasma cutter or access to one then nick a man hole cover. Or speak to a road crew other scrappy

Thanks for all the replies. I had a look in Aldi but no Tepanaki grills. I've been looking in numerous shops (including the ones mentioned) and not seen anything suitable - hence the question.

The problem with the ribbed/smooth griddles is that they don't work so well on induction on the smooth side (I want to use the smooth side only) because they lift the bulk of the griddle above the induction zone.

I already have something similar to that LeCrueset one, but I want to cook 4 steaks at once across the two ring zone, and it's not big enough. Plus I want smooth not ribbed as it cooks much better.

There are a few that look suitable on Amazon listed as Plancha (Spanish griddle), but they are alloy with a ferromagnetic insert in the base, which are not very good. Also they are a tad too big. So why I am trying to find where I can source a slab of cast iron.
