I am in the need of a "Y" size bottle of the above gas.

We at work are going through a mountain of small disposable cylinders when testing Carbon Monoxide detectors.

We have a refill station and in date refillable bottles at work, the rig is being commissioned and tested by an outside company.

They will not supply a gas bottle, as we are responsible for that side.

Who is the best place to get one from?
Do BOC supply them, my depo did not understand the difference between CO2 and CO.

You need to contact them they have all sorts of scientific gas.

They have it listed on the website, not cheap though! Is it pure you're after or mixed with air/nitrogen?

For testing and calibration purposes you will need gas that is traceable. It will come with a UKAS certificate and stated purity etc etc.

At my last place we used Air Products for a wide variety of UKAS calibration gases.

It wont be cheap !!!

We used to get calibration cylinders for all the fixed & personal CO monitors we used in the steelworks. We needed them our process gases contained upto 65% CO.
The calibration gases were only supplied in non toxic concentrations typically containing 50 & 100 ppm CO mix. As previously mentioned they were not cheap.

Carbon Monoxide CP Grade N3.0.

Is what BOC are recommending for use to test Carbon Monoxide detectors.

The stores are arranging a bottle to be collected and sent to the office. Once we supply BOC a copy of the correct paper work of the refilling rig being suitable for safe use.

Well, after all the help and advise from here and BOC. The expenses of getting the rig set up and sending out pre paid return box's for the engineer test rigs.

It is not happening.
2 reasons.

H&S/ Insurance have advised us not to do it, even through they said if we "jumped through" a host requirement's. Plus arranged training courses.

But that above, is annoying, but the supplier of the canisters we use for testing the detectors have reduced the price to the company by 75%, go figure.
Another reason to leave this planet.

We needed a grade suitable for testing CO detectors. The small cans we were using did not last. But we had a rig what took refillable cylinders. The plan was to refill them and issue out to engineers.

I wonder if they had a tip-of you were looking to refill in house? The CO world must be a small one seems like a bit of a coincidence.

They all know, hence why the Refill rig had to be re-commissioned.
