Caravan / Camper spares North of Oban

Probably a long shot but you never know

We are currently away in Scotland and are travelling around in my wife's camper van. Its nothing fancy 04 Renault Master homebrew

We are overnighting in Oban before heading off further north up the west coast to Ullapool

The Whale water pump has decided to die and while we could live without it, would be nice if we could find a replacement

Internet searches and asking locally has turned up Ledaig Leisure but Dr Google says they are closed till Tuesday. Going to ring in the morning and drive past just in case Google is wrong

If that is shut, everything else I've found is either the wrong direction or several hours out of our way

Not bothered having an identical replacement, I'll quite happily bodge any 12v pump onto what we have

Does anyone have any suggestions where we might try around the North West?

And the pump does fire up if you give the impeller a tickle, doesn't pump any water tho and then jams again

Checked for blockages and plumbing is all good

Ullapool might have what you are after, Lochinver has chandlers, how far north are you going, dependingf on what route you were planning, I am in Wick and guess I could get one for you if you were desperate, would probable need ordered very soon to arrive in time though.

When you get to Ullapool, the road signs just say "To the North". There isn't much up there. Your best bets are Oban, Fort William, and Inverness. There's a Screwfix in Oban.

Torvean caravan park 01463 220582 or Caley marina, boat sales, Inverness , 01463 236539. May be worth a try, both situated on the Caledonian Canal, on the outskirts of the city.

Give this place a ring, I'd be surprised if they couldn't sort something out for you. The North is full of campervans, although numbers are dropping now that the main holiday periods are ending. Been in there quite a few times. CLICKY

Looks like Nancy Black's has closed down, sadly. Craobh Haven is relatively near (about 20 miles) from Oban.

There's an outdoors/camping type shop on the left hand side of the big roundabout when you are coming from the ferry terminal. At least there was last time I went through Oban.

Just been in to Mackay's Chandlery, Lochinver (The link slim_boy_fat left)
Unfortunately they don't stock that style of pump, only bilge pumps etc.

Thanks again everyone, popped into B&H Autospares in Oban, they had a generic Whale submersible pump that I can use to hack the broken pump

Tonight I dismantled the broken unit and replaced the pump, fairly straightforward as Whale in their wisdom made it to be serviceable

We now have running water

Sorry no pics, just started doing it and our neighbour for the night came over for a chat

Instead, this is the view from the camper van, we are in Ardmair Point Holiday Park for tonight





Midges are out in force tho!
