Fine in wet, but would say reduced lifespan. One of those compromises.
I remember the good old Camacs, a nuclear strike wouldn't even put a dent in them, whilst they sat in the ditch on your car.....

Ha, I remember those too, weren’t they always very shiny?
I’m trying to think if they were the ones that smelled a bit like bacon.

Good in the wet and good in greasy conditions, tyre wear has been fine, I'm getting about double the mileage out of them that I got out of Goodyear Eagles for example - grip wise, probably on par with a good midrange tyre in the dry - they're not michelin PS2 levels but they're pretty decent and consistant.

Cheers Phil...At the price they certainly look like they are worth a go, my days of drifting and clouds of burning rubber are long gone so they only have to contend with boring normality.
gaz_moose They were not.They had a number of grey sound proofing boards, for want of a better term. Made out of something like polystyrene, about a inch thick, 4 inch wide and 18in long, they were stuck to the inside of the tyre all the way round the inner circumference.

a 3dB increase in noise level is a doubling of the sound power level.
So increase noise by 3dB and the sound is twice as loud.
Except our hearing is logarithmic, it may have double the power, but it doesn't appear to be twice as loud subjectively.

Yes 3dB is about right for sound power, but the dB figures in this case are SPL (sound pressure level, not power) so we ought to consider 6dB as about double.
It's more confusing than it needs to be. A lot of it is due to basic early measurement equipment that sort of set the standards.
On modern cars with independeant suspension the tyres can wear in a way that they get noisy, probably more likely on ones that are few years old and don't do many miles as they can get mishaped.
I've had two occasions on cars that were new to me where I thought I had a wheel bearing gone which turned out to be tyre noise.
I've even had variation on different batches of the same tyre. I had some Uniroyal Rainsports that felt like shark teeth when you ran you hand over them, previous set were quiet through there lifespan.

Its a well used trick in the noise measurement game to confuse and mislead folk that don't know. Sound pressure level is only really useful if you are evaluating noise from guns being fired or if hot setting rivets with power hammers etc. When I need to look at SPL (pressure) I always use units of Pascal's as it makes things much easier cause the noise measurement scale is logarithmic and too complicated
Edit, A little off topic, But ...
Pressure is a useful evaluation tool if the noise is likely to cause instantaneous damage to hearing, eg impact, guns, expolosions etc
Power is a useful evaluation tool if the noise is likely to be long term and persistent, causing damage more slowly, eg every day factory noise
