car stereo

need new car stereo.
old one had usb socket so i could play more songs.

want something that i can plug in that holds loads of songs.

not up on stereos etc so looking for advice pls.

only upgraded couple of years ago from tape deck

There are a couple of units on ebay for around £25-£35 which just have radio and media ports eg SD card, USB and AUX input. they could be useful if your not bothered about CD's.

I nearly bought one for my MX5 but got offered an old JVC unit for about £5 only radio and CD though.

if you use usb or sd card the unit needs to read the index every times its turned on. therefore the initialisation time of the media depends on the size of the folders and number of files.
if you have an ipod there are care stereos that connect and are controlled by the ipod/phone/patch etc.
there are also aux inputs that take normal output that would be for headphones. you get double ended plug/lead and connect the headphone output to the aux input.
then there is the radio. normal fm still going strong, but alot mote content if you have DAB.
Some units will read mp3 files off a cd

many options and prices too!!

sound like you just need an sd card or usb stick to plug into the stereo

what a long way we have come from the humble cassette

go for one of the big brands and you cant really go wrong (alpine, pioneer, jvc,sony etc) as with everything you get what you pay for but there is so much cheap **** out there, also stay away from the halfords own brand stuff
