Car Restoration

I'm looking for someone in Edinburgh to do some restoration welding on my 1967 VW Karmann Ghia. When I say resoration it is basically a shell with big lumps cut off it and needs new panels etc welded on the give a basis for a panelbeater to prepare and paint. This is no small undertaking but I could pay something. Any help would be gratefully received !

why not have a go yourself? lots of tutorials etc to help you out

i started like that.
just get a clarke 100e welder a bottle of argon mix gas some .6 wire a sheet of 3ft x 3 ft 22 guage zintec steel and have a go.
the tutorials on here really are as good as they look dead easy to follow and they work
you could get some of it done and leave the harder parts till you get better start on the easy bits and it will come dead quickly
the lads and ladies on here will help whenever you need it i bought a dented mx5 boot lid and cut bits out of it and welded them back in again and again untill it started to click

Hi Bill,

I can't help with a recommendation unfortunately though someone on the owner's club web site might be able to help.

How much work and where does the Ghia need? I know first hand (see my thread in this section of the forum) that these aren't the easiest of projects as they are very prone to rust and there aren't any bolt on body panels.

I'll echo Scotty's reply Bill, this is a forum for people wanting to learn about welding or to help those wanting to learn about welding, not a forum for getting a cheap resto done.

As you're not doing it yourself it doesn't belong in the projects section and as we don't have a 'can anyone restore my car on the cheap' section I've moved it to the brew room.
