iv had a search couldnt find my answer. my mate has popped his rad, can it be welded with a mig welder? his car is a toyota starlet. if it can what gas, wire and amps will he need?
The header tanks will be either plastic or brass, the latter could be soldered.
The core is most likely aluminium, copper or brass, you may be able to solder the last two, but the material is so thin these days it would be a very tricky job.
If it's one of the tubes that's gone you may be able to block each end, but this would entail removing one or both of the tanks.
I dobt it can be mig welded.
I have heard of them being tig-ed, but woulnt try myself.
Theres a fair few radiator repair speialists about if a new one or a breaked is very expensive.
Try cleaning around the damaged area with wet and dry if its not too large, and fill the hole with Araldite Rapid.I have used this method several times on rad tubes and seams,it worked for me,it's an inexpensive way, failing that its a new one or a trip to the breakers yard, good look.
