Car park barriers

Greetings all, i have to park in a very expensive multi storey car park a couple of times a week, i can pay at the machine on exit by putting the ticket in machine and paying by contactless card or pay by putting my ticket in the machine on the ground floor, paying by card, walking to my luxobarge, drive to the exit where the barier will magically lift as i get to the barrier.
the ticket is just a thin piece of card with a barcode, the ticket can be in my greasy palm or on the passenger seat so how does the barrier know i have paid ?....asking for a friend

It reads your plate as you take the ticket at the entry barrier .

On your way in, your number gets read. The ticket is issued and linked to that number. You then pay for the ticket and the system then knows that you have paid so when it sees your number, it lets you out. Simples!

Since you didn't park, they can't charge you!

I think most places have a 5 minute or so window where you can drive in and straight out again. For example, if you can't actually find a parking space.

I did that after driving into the wrong car park at Leeds train station once, min charge was £30. Straight out and the barrier opened

i went to one and didnt know you had to validate and pay in the shopping center machine then put ticket in the barrier .10 cars parked behind me all getting ratty i had to tell em all to back up so i could reverse out one got ratty and wouldn't move . i just said to the rest he wont move so neither can i or the rest they nearly killed him he soon shifted

the ones i use i need to key in the registration number

you think some are bad try all day parking in leeds

so i take a photo of my reg which also gives me the date / time when i was there, then i take a photo of the paid ticket

this gives me evidence later if needed all digital of coarse

never needed to use it but its always there as a just incase

now my brother has a ticket for leeds parking and at moment where still waiting for the kangaroo court as well as the day to prove they are liars

weve got evidence and they choose to ignore this evidence we should be in court soon

but im going to ask as its been a long while should have been in 2000 court date

If you get stuck in an NCP carpark where the exit barrier machine constantly F's up and they won't let you out I've been told the barrier can be quickly removed to much applause form all the other people stuck by turning the two quick release fixing screws a quarter turn anticlockwise and lobbing it at the wall....

Yes, there must be a way to open it quick, for emergency services, fire evacuation etc. I have sometimes politely wondered how strong the barriers/hinges are, if you actually ram them...

was watching the rail barrier crossing next to my house and a low loader went across slowly and barriers came down while he was half way acrossthe stuck up ramps ripped the barrier off the guy parked up and came back to look . i said just disappear quick no one else saw it happen but what about them cameras on that house facing crossing err there mine and will be deleted i never saw anything

Try backing up at our local multi story it has a spiral exit, gate at the bottom, stupid steep and narrow too!

no magnetic strip, just the bar code (cheapskate option) ill have a play with some of the tickets i have kept for reasons unknown
