busy converting a pickup from diesel to a v8 petrol. i have a in tank fuel pump, but it wont fit through the hole into the tank so wondering what other options i have. do i fit a low pressure pump above the tank, plumb it to a surge tank and then use a high pressure pump to feed the engine, or can i mount a high pressure pump above the tank feeding the engine, or can i fit a high pressure pump in the engine bay feeding the engine? one pump at the tank or enginebay would suit me best as the money outlay is less than 2 pumps and a surge tank plus fittings.

just get an external pump off something like an old escort. I have one here from a cosworth but ive been using it as an emergency pump. Its had water, diesel, oil, 2 stroke, everything through it

try a hit on Demon Tweeks site http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/performance/fuel-system they might have something, motorcycles now have pumps in their tanks which would probably go in but I doubt they would flow enough juice to run a V8.

whats stopping u opening the hole up and make a boss for the new pump and soft solder it in

You don't mention carb or injected, two different pumps needed

vw mk2 GTI fuel pump is usefull for things like this, usally find one cheepish has it's own inbult swirl/suge tank. feed it with a low pressure inline pump from the tanks dip tube, mount the 2nd pump by the tank. works a treat

Yeah, it's a fuel injected v8 out of a lexus. I'm just going to try and source a pump that will fit into the tank. The skyline pump I have is about 4mm too big.
