Spraying a car door over the weekend, celly is the paint being used - what clear coat can I use on it to give it the glossy look.

I have the clear coat for water based paint can this be used?

Going back to my days of spraying, coughing and spluttering...never used anything over cellulose, cutting paste, T cut and wax for showroom finish

Hmm, I've got two part cellulose paint for my car, I.e. it's a colour coat + clear coat system. You get single coat too that Cumbriasteve is talking about.

I thought clear coat for water based would be a commercial two pack product?

I'd say have a quick chat with your local paint supplier for compatibility.

i would think that your colour coat will be polyester base coat and maybe lacquer cellulose

Yes sorry..I did mean the single coat stuff..I no longer spray and new paints and procedures baffle me

It's brought back memorys: I used to spray the tanks of my British bikes, about a dozen coats of celly, flatted back between each coat, then cutting paste with a drop of T cut, then T cut and finally turtle wax, the finish was like glass.

I once did a Sunbeam Rapier by the same method, that was a nightmare of aching arms, if I tried it now I would be on the floor with heart attack.
