I want to buy a diagnostic kit, youtube is steering me towards Thinkcar 689BT for £287, seems no annual subscription needed for Thinkcar, which is best for the money ? I have a Volvo VCT2000/Vida which works for pre 2012 cars , not tried it on anything other than Volvo and probably does not work on any other make maybe it would do the OBD2 basics on other cars but don't want to risk plugging it in to anything other than a Volvo in case it gets damaged ? I also have the Vauxhall cheap dongle, think it was £15 but something blew up, a capacitor or diode, it made a popping and electrical fizzing sound last time I plugged it in and went dead, still not had time to look at the problem. Cars I need to work on are Kia, Peugot, Volvo, Ford Transit van , Vauxhall , 2004 Mini, Skoda , mainly old bangers newest is 2014. Would appreciate any advice on whats the best diagnostic so many different ones on ebay , wouldn't mind paying a bit more but don't want something that needs an annual subscription.
