car a/c lines ...struggling to push home?

car needed a new a/c line , got it in place and cant seem to push it all the way home , are they usually very tight ? guessing they would be

any tips for getting some extra shove? pipes are slipping

Double check there is nothing stuck in the connector that shouldn't be, the connector isn't damaged, and put a bit lube on the seals and into the connector.
Then brute force and ignorance!
Depending on the layout, sometimes something like a smaller pair of plumbers/waterpump pliers (the parallel jaws avoid them slipping of as easily) can help get that bit extra leverage, but you have to be careful not to damage anything.

does feel like that last shove with some pilers would do it , not sure pliers on thin alloy tube is a great idea though

hose removal pliers ,, or some lube on the o rings . I use crystolube , but red rubber grease should be ok.

I did some work on mine a while ago and don't recall these problems. Are absolutely sure you have the right O rings? Re-using old O rings, even if they look perfect, may be hard as the gas causes them to swell quite a lot. As I recall, many/most after-market O rings intended for AC use are green. You can buy a kit (assortment) of them for no great money.

yeah came with new green o rings , obviously they must be a snugg fit , just a bit scared of damaging the soft alloy

Is it your belief that even without O rings they would be a problem? If you get in to the business of removing small O rings, there used to be some plastic (Nylon?) removal tools on ebay which I found quite good, especially against soft aluminium.

Jaguar Quick Disconnect type.

As long as you not got anything jammed in the spring in the round bit - silicon spray and tap it home with a bit of wood and rubber mallet is you only hope.

You have my sympathy - I have struggled with this type before - but I've never broke one in anger!

right so had it apart again...its all under the wing lol

the pipe had come with new o rings fitted , and the dryer it plugs into included a set too, swapped them over and and it pushed it in easy....spose it will leak now lol

O ring seals can fool you. As said above, they will swell after being wetted.
