Cap head screws

What grade of steel is used in the manufacture of a standard Allen screw (Cap head or otherwise)?

I'm sure cap heads are usually 10.9.

If I were to buy hex head bolts of the same quality I'd be looking for 10.9.on the head then?

Bog standard hex heads are more than likely going to be 8.8

They are graded just like hex bolts.

Yep 8.8's are standard

Unless the vendor is prepared to state what they are assume they are made of 4.8 cheese; most cap heads I encounter are 8.8 or 10.9, but the tide of crap no-name fasteners is rising so always ask the question.
