Can't remove gas valve!

Am I missing something here? Gas bottle has expired and went to remove the valve and it just won't come off the bottle just rotates but didn't undo! It's been ages since I actually fitted the valve as the welder has been used that little! Is there a trick to it that I have fogotten, or have the threads fubared themselves magically? It's a small disposble bottle for a Clarke mig.

that's one problem with snall bottles that I've never had...

but I'd guess that the plastic part of the valve has broken away from a metal insert that screws onto the cylinder. If you can confirm that then you need to look at ways to get hold of that metal insert and turn it. Or possibly ease the plastic bit off the insert then glue it back in afterwards.

If it's loose then you'll need to refix it or you'll have a similar problem next time you change the gas.

i don't know if this could help but if you pull some thing apart without threads it will cut threads so you could try pulling both side apart at the same time while unscrewing

Just been and checked my Clarke mini-reg and it's got a hex to tighten onto bottle with a spanner - might be stating the obvious but you're not trying to unscrew it from the top?
