Hi there! I would just like to vent off some anger which has built up inside for a while.
I have been in employment for the last five years, doing various jobs... warehousing, driving etc.. I decided to take it upon myself to get some skills/trades etc. so decided to take a few welding classes. At 25 i am classed as a mature student so hence these weren't cheap! £200 per level, I've done level 1+2 in MIG, 1+2 in TIG and 1 in stick. My maths is quite poor but i figured out that I've pay'd nearly a grand! yes £1000 of my hard earned English pounds.
This was just under a year ago when i finished college and was told by all the tutors that you would walk straight into a job. ha! I should of realised there and then that it wouldn't be a walk in the park.
I figured well.. I learnt a useful trade (at a big expense) and should come in useful as I play around with old vw's quite alot.
Two weeks ago I lost my job and im now struggling to find work. My savings are slowly starting to dwindle and im starting to panic. I have a meeting tomorrow with a job seekers advisor and im going to vent some anger to them.
Since passing the tests I applied to a few company's, but they want time served! I thought maybe going to a building site but they want a cscs card.
I even asked some people if I could come and work along side a welder on weekends for FREE to gain experience but still no...
Can someone suggest something? im not a millionaire and those courses really hit my pocket hard! im thinking maybe at least could i qualify to get some of those costs back? When I was doing my course job seekers got it for free, hey even prisoners got it for nowt!
Could someone point us in the right direction?
