can you put a flux brazing rod in a arc welder. Probably a very silly question to you professionals

No it won't work, well not to braze a joint anyway.

I presume you asking/talking about putting the rod straight in the stinger?

If you want a pile of snot on a joint that wont work try it, but you could possibly blow up your welder ( a**e covering text/time).

Not directly, but you can use a carbon arc torch attachment like this to braze with your arc welder. Not a silly question at all.
