Can you polish a scratch out of stainless steel?

I'm thinking about buying some steel hub caps but they are all damaged to some extent, a bit of pitting through to dings and scratches , does anyone know if scratches like this can be polished out, and where can you get it done.

If you aren't careful you'll polish a low into it and that will bug you forever more!

Pay if it's only a few bits , to setup for polishing it's quite expensive as you need a good machine

They only cost a tener each so would not be a disaster.

Put them on a drive wheel and jack the car up, fire it up put it in gear and apply the "abrasive paper coarse down to fine and elbow grease then buffing wheels sisal down to cotton wheels using compound" for a nice even finish

I'd have a go myself if I was you could use mops in an electric drill for that it's not ideal but it wouldn't cost a lot, most people I now do their own polishing.
