Spotted this advertised as a 'Metal Planer'

It's an old Invicta shaper, I think it's the big 6M model & only 400 Euro! It is located in Tipperary & will be scrapped if not sold.

If I could afford it I would buy it myself as they don't come up for sale too often over here. With a bit of restoration & correct advertising I think there's a good profit to be made.

But please someone save it.

Find out what scrappy he'll use, let him scrap it for 140 and then buy it off the yard for 200

Then tell him what you did.

That way you get it cheaper, the scrappy makes a few notes (and helps keep the economy moving in a small way) and you get to shove his attitude up his pipe.

I could never understand why people put that on adverts. I would rather scrap it than take low offers.

Unfortunately it's to dear and to far away. But could have the makings of a good bit of kit.

probably get 2oo scrap price if he takes it in. for its size its not even worth that as its 2 big for the average workshop and guy . try moving it

on another note if wanting to scrap it and not let another user repair it then its plain greed at its price already

If it was local and not hundreds of miles away and at a reasonable price then it be worth the hassle. Moving it would be fun and games definitely. But if a bargain is to be had then I would drag the fkr home on rollers. So guys if I disappear for 6 months you no why

People are often misguided as to what things actually weight and also what scrap price really is.

But both of those things aside, the ad reads like "id rather get £20 down the scrappy, than sell it you for £40, as i *think* its worth £50".

If he would rather sell it for scrap, than take an offer as a bit of machinery, maybe if you offer him scrap price for it, he wont take offence? : )



I cant see the tool weighing more than 700kg? It wasnt so long ago that scrap was as low as £20 / tonne, but say its 4x that now, hes still looking at less than 1/4 of his current asking price.

more on the range of a 6m model but table top looks funny and not with the 6m design a modified table instead like the dore westbury table

what is the point of a shaper? it seems to offer the same functions as a mill, but just not as comprehensively.

There were machines known as "metal planers", Waldrich Coburg built them from 1920's, a bit larger than the average shaper but worked on the same principal.
