Hi, knighty is right if it's an in-house one it's only valid within the company. If it's a RTITB (Road Transport Industry Training Board) certificate then it's valid elsewhere for either 3 or 5 years depending how much you use it. If you use it infrequently then it's valid 3 years, if used all the time then it's 5 years.

I was in there from Feb 2016 until Feb 2017, and I never signed any contract in that time. Do you think that works in my favour?

I would have thought a contract would be better. I would talk to your new work and see what they say, they may have experience with this type of thing, probably not unusual.

It depends on the arrangement, if your company is paying for the training then any certificates are normally sent to the company. I've been lucky that my last couple of employers have just taken a copy for the files and given me the originals when I've done FLT, MEWP etc.

Are they posting your originals?
No they are sending me copies, what I was told was 'we don't give them out because we paid for them'
I replied well I was talking to citizens advice and according to the Subject access request under section 7 in the 1998 data protection right, I am legal too have everything that you own with my name on it.
They didn't reply too that and asked too call me back, I said no problem, but just remind this will be a lot handier for both of us if I just get them.
She phoned back 15 mins later and asked if I want copies sent out or emailed.
Felt soooo good too have one up on that company. They treated me so badly at the end.

It's enough to get me into the job in after. If they are after them then they can contact my ex supplier and buy them.
It's more to show that I'm not stupid than anything else.
I'm hanging up the welding helmet for good and can't wait !
