Can i weld ali on a clarke pro90 with suitable wire/gas?

As above i could do with welding some ali so i can get my car finished. Its some 1.6mm thick tube onto 2 and 3mm thick cast ali?

Ive only got a crappy little clarke pro90. I can get the argon gas an the wire and tips.

So is it poss?

I did try some with mine and go ok ish results and then the mig died before I go going in anger

If this is related to the other thread i.e. inlet manifold/intercooler piping then don't even bother trying. Yes with the right gas etc it'll be capable on paper of welding ally. In practice it ain't powerfull enough (the cast side) and thin ally with a basic MIG ain't fun, tube... even less so. Thin wall tube to a chunk of cast ally when the welds need to be air tight... Forget it.
