Can I use this switch?

My wife keeps a walking stick in the bathroom, just so she can turn off the isolator on the ceiling next to the fan when she has a bath. She swears the fan draws the heat out of the bath water, I just go along with it, not worth argoing.

Don't the regs specify equipment must be installed to manufacturers instructions? which often specify a 3A fuse for a bathroom fan.

Extractor fans are a cause of house fires, 182 for 2019/2020. Many are fitted to 10a or 6a circuits without fusing down the feed, it is plausible that a 3A fuse could have prevented a few of these.

My daughter just had a new fan put in and it had to be DC in zone 1.

That is an assumption, there is no guarantee the device has any kind of circuit protection. It is a requirement of the electrical regs that it is installed to the manufacturers instructions which can and often does include a fuse often 3A regardless of the current carrying capacity of the cables used. Why would the manufacturer specify a supply fuse if it is already done internally?

Flow switches to operate a bathroom fan!? That's why I run a mile from domestic work, you never know what's burid under a floor or in the roof space...

i get all sorts of .sh,it at customers jobs . diy other electricians etc i just cut through it do the job right or tell them to stick it and leave

I would suggest the better option would have been to take the feed from the supply side of your light switch to the permanent and switched lives of the fan (via an isolator) and interrupt the switched live with a pull cord.
That will give you the ability to control the fan independently of the light.

Thats how it works now after I refurbished the bathroom and fitted a proper shower(non electric).

Nice to have the fan operate when its needed, ie when you have a shower, not when you get up in the middle of the night to have a pee and switch the light on to see where you're going, or when it rains(humidistat).

just fit a 1 way switch and a fan isolator switch outside the bathroom door to feed the timer fan separately on its own

Nice to have the fan operate when its needed, ie when you have a shower, not when you get up in the middle of the night to have a pee and switch the light on to see where you're going, or when it rains(humidistat).

In my old house I just fitted a two gang light switch outside the door, one switch for the main light and fan the other one for a low wattage lamp for the midnight slash n dash

I’m not saying some don’t but I can’t recall ever seeing internal fusing within an extract fan.

There is no requirement for an extract fan to be SELV if located within zone 1. The accessory has to suitably IP rated for its location and protected by a 30mA RCD.

Apologies I should have said zone 0.
If using a spur I would fit a specific fuse, but a 16mm twin and earth from a consumer unit fused at 3A would not be correct to me, and changing the circuit function could invoke part P?

Zone 0 is inside the bath tub itself so I suspect I’ve misunderstood something at some point.

Yes you are quite correct; any electrical modifications within the bathroom, other than something viewed as maintenance, would qualify as notifiable under part P.

Exactly, but they are tricky to find and bit like the “A Team” in as much as “If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... the A-Team." DA DA DA..DA DA DA
