can i tig with an arc welder?

Hi have all the pipes cables reg etc an an old hf igniter can i tig with a regular stick welder not sure if it's ac dc can i tell cheers Nick

yeh you can tig of a stick set... if your set is dc then plug your tig torch straight in, you want a torch with a gas valve on it then its scratch start all the way if your set is AC though, then you will be restricted... this HF igniter.. does it allow for constant hf? if it does you can have your hf on constant on an ac set and weld ali...

thanks for reply yes it is a constant hf source looks about 40 years old but works cost £2 from the tip destined for scrap! will give it a go if it stinks it will be donated to the industrial museum at Amberley the set is pictured in the BOC section cheers Nick
