Can anyone recommed a good electric sander\polisher

anyone got a air mini da will this do instead with separate polisher

You have a DA or a Polisher, you don't have the 2 in 1, Different tools for different jobs i'm afraid.

As for a Sander/Obital thing I use the Clarke 5" from MM, after years of doing everything by hand it soon became my new best friend:

I did try with some polishing pads but it was not successful, if you want a sander buy a sander, if you want a polisher buy a polisher.

a DA runs too fast for polishing and if you slow it it down through a regulator you will lose power.
for polishing you need the right tool there is no comparison also it will be cheaper to run then an air polisher

A little more info would be good.......

As I am sure Steve (Langy) will tell you if you are polishing car paint unless you have some sort of experience BE WARNED....a polisher can rip your newly laid fresh paint to shreds, you can either polish right through it, or if c over b actually melt and burn it (especially on edges and sharp corners) a machine polisher needs to run at 800-2500 approx rpm preferably with a speed controller built in, and don't even think about using a 9" grinder with a buffing / polishing head on it, wayyyyyyyy to fast, you need to be looking at...if its a one off....THIS....or one of THESE if it is to be a longer term thing, now if you want a body prep tool prior to painting, then yes you want a DA.....two totally different animals, and seeing as you specced electric. then something along THESE lines is what you would be looking for, i hope any or all of the above is of some help to you.

The main problem with the electric DA is they are heavy and need 2 hands, My Mirka air DA is used with one hand and is very very light.

Or melted door handles, seen it done on a Golf. I use a random orbital sander similar to the one busa posted for rubbing down but I sometimes borrow a Silverline polisher and it works fine from a friend I do the odd favour.

My next tool will be the Silverline Polisher, you can get them now for £40 every where. Still love my Obital random, finding it handy for more and more jobs ( just wont get on the inside of my swingarm )

If its for regular/everyday use festool DA is your only man..

I have a CP mini DA too 50mm and 75mm changeable heads nice little tool runs on air. I only use this for smart repairs though
