Can anyone identify this welder?

I blame you lot. No excuses, when I asked for help in getting some welding done you told me to buy a welder and do it myself. B******s

So I bought one from Screwfix, which sat in the box for 3 months before I had managed to get the time to look at how to weld. And I found that the wire feed switch had broken loose of the circuit board behind.

It is listed at £199, but was on special when I bought it for £99. (Probably special because it was broken!)

So I need a spare part or repair but have no idea where to go.

Any ideas? Screwfix can only tell me that it is imported and they don't have a name, which although I got a tad annoyed, the girl I spoke to was lovely so I let it go. Although I know the law etc, I can't be doing with the Sales of Goods Act and threats etc, I just want to get it fixed and get my Stag on the road.

So does anyone know a manufacturer I could call, or know where I could go to get it soldered back on, or a new switch? I could solder it myself, but I would hate to mess it up and make things worse. (Broken welder, no manufacturer, how could it get worse?)

I'm really sorry to say that I think you'll struggle to get spares for that, especially if even the supplier can't assist! It just reinforces what the dealers on here say about box-movers I'm afraid .
The only thing you could do is contact the manufacturer, Kende and see if they can help.
The other thing I've spotted is that the minimum current is a whopping 60 amps! That will turn your Stag into lace

While we are considering redeeming ourselves you can get yourself out of the pile of crap that you are in as a result of not researching a purchase. You have a welder that is of suspect quality, from a supplier that knows nothing about welders and doesn't know how to get spares. From that supplier you should check that the torch is not live.

That machine only has a duty cycle of 10% at full load and 60% at 60 amps, this would give it a useable cycle at 25 amps but it doesn't go down there. It does not have a Euro torch so you may have to get spares from ???

For working on a car you may as well bin it and start again.

Tony, luckily it's only cost you £99, stick it on ebay as spares or repairs and take a small loss on it, put whatever you get for it towards a new Clarke .

Depends if it was bought at £99 due to the fact that it was 'shop-soiled'. If so then probably no comeback but if it was just on offer at £99 then yes, there should be good grounds for replacement or refund I would have thought, especially if you can show that it hasn't been used at all.
Tony, ring screwfix again and make it quite clear you want something done about it.

On this forum there are 100s of members with varying degrees of skills & knowledge most of whom are delighted to help & advise on,..
1. suitable equip’t
2. pitfalls to look for
3. correct techniques to use it, you only have to ask (politely).

There are 100s of threads & 1000s of posts, all pertaining to most aspects of welding, a scan thro’ some, would have shown that the likes of Screwfix (the name says it all) or Mr Box-shifter of Bognor, is not the place to buy the best industrial kit. (but if I wanted a good screw… ... I still would'nt use them)

I suggest you don’t need to know the maker let alone get it fixed, it is not fit for purpose & is not of merchantable quality.
The lovely girl you spoke to was doing her job well, they've got YOUR cash & YOU want to fix their problem !! she's very good.

Get your cash back, find out what you require & buy a proper unit for the job cos you wont succeed with that one.
