Can anyone identify this mystery item - a grinding machine attachment or something else?

Hi All ,

This was in with a mix of milling machine and lathe parts for a Tom Senior Milling machine and a Harrison lathe on the main. Do not think it attaches to either so it’s a mystery - can any one identify it from the pictures? Thanks

Yeah, no-one responded to that query either, I guess it must be some obscure part.

It puts me in mind of part of the old valve refacer thing I used occasionally when I was in the motor trade

It is unusual as it has a very slender/skinny base so not much rigidity there. Also the wide, sloping face surrounding the collet is not something you'd normally see.

If it were possible to remove the collet and identify what it is, that might give a pointer to a manufacturer. The upper left third of the collet has a maker's mark.
