Can any one identify this component please

This component is failed in a meter (prob because of a fault any won't be the only part but nothing else is burned )so I'm hoping they set the meter on the wrong setting and put power through it that blown the capactor marked f for farad (i hope i spelled this right)

But can't confirm the right capacitance some one with good knowledge I'm sure will see and get it right ?

.7 ohms ? As a guess?

Have you tried measuring it on a resistance rather than capacitance setting? Is the wire broken? Could you measure the two halves, up to the break point?

Wirewound 0.1 R resistor which looks intact to me, it will measure dead short on a domestic multimeter if so.

Nothing definite about it, they are designed to run hot. If it checks out on a meter, try to space it off the board a little.

its never definitely blown until proved to be blown...those resistors can take a battering and run hotter than the red light district...the scorching could just be a product of it doing its job to be honest.

Yes, looks like a 0.1 Ohm resister to me. The F marking could mean that it's a fusible resistor. It's best to just measure it with a Ohm meter, 0.1 Ohm is almost a dead short, but if it measures open circuit then it has blown.
