Calling Kerry Super 8 & Q&S Drill Owners

I've left a deposit on a Qualters & Smith QDM 750 drill & I'm going to look at it next week. It's a 200 mile round trip so if it checks out I will bring it home with me.

The drill is a rebadged Kerry Super 8 mk 2 with the square cover. I need to know what tools I need to break it down into smaller parts to go into a car. I hope to remove the motor, take the head off the column, slide the table off & maybe split the base from the column.

How is the plate for the switch box mounted, it's not clear in the picture? Is it screwed to the motor plate or the main casting?

Any help you can give me on spanner/socket sizes, bolt head types & tools need to dismantle it would be great as I just want to bring the minimum of tools with me.

My q&s has the switch mounted on the front face of the drill casting, id imagine it’ll only be a couple screws on that one. They’re well built though! According to any literature on the q&s range my model doesn’t exist

When I bought my meddings I put it into the back of a 406 estate complete, mostly by myself as the seller was an old guy with a heart condition and the Mrs suddenly had a bad back! At 122kg this drill is heavier than the meddings , it has to go into an avensis with a deep boot lip & I've 2 knackered shoulders so I'll not be throwing this anywhere!

As far as I'm aware Q&S didn't make their own drills, they just rebadged other brands. They were part of the Kerry group for a while, hence the rebadged super 8. The style of that drill looks familiar so there's probably an identical drill out there with a different makers name on it! Have you searched Tony's site?

Hi just purchased a Kerry super 8 mk2 but need to replace the drive belt the question is how do I remove the top cover to lift the v belt off as I can’t see how

Hi all. I've had my Kerry super 8 for some time, but thought I'd try and get the back gears to work. The smaller gear on the part that you rotate in and out is completely stripped with not a single tooth remaining.
My father was going to turn down an old back gear froma lathe that he had and I was going to braize it on, but he has nothing the same.

Does anyone know what the overal size of the gear is so that I can work out what the DP is.

Or if anyone has a complete one thet would consider selling.

Yep, I bought it. Is that your drill in the photo? The top cover & table are different to mine.

Didn't realise it was that long since I bought it!

After I got it home it sat in the middle of the workshop until I decided where to put it. Then at the start of 2022 I finally got around to giving it a refurb & locating it in its current home.

Yes, the photo I posted shows my drill. I'm unlikely to do any refurb .
