Aye often 2 or 3 times the price for half the size or less.

I have been making gf fruit and cheese scones, way cheaper than buying them in a supermarket:

No bother:

Ingredients:
500g Juvela white mix flour
100g unsalted butter- cut into cubes and softened in microwave for 10 seconds
100g castor sugar
5 heaped tea spoons baking powder/bicarbonate of soda
pinch of salt
3 large eggs, plus one for glazing
half a 500g tub plain or Greek yogurt.
filling: either 200g grated strong cheddar or 200g sultanas or cherries

Heat oven to 180 Fan (220 C conventional oven)

Line 2 baking trays with grease proof paper, rub with spreadable butter.

I use my food processor or just mix in a bowl the flour, baking powder and salt
then add or rub in the cubed butter
stir in the sugar, eggs and filling
stir in the yogurt

lightly dust a work surface with flour and empty the mix onto the surface and dust the mix with flour then roll out to around 1" thick
Cut scones with a scone cutter and place on baking tray.

mix an egg and brush egg over top of scone, for cheese, I add a sprinkling on top too.
then bake for 15 mins or slightly longer if top not fully browned.

My family (who do not need gf) like them too.

I find the yoghurt helps them keep a good shape and keeps them light.
