calibrate old co gas analyser? any thoughts

got an old snap on /blue point gas analyser , it runs up and the display works but the instructions state to zero it in fresh air , it no longer goes that low with the dial showing between 2-10% roughly

iv found the adjuster pot in side ...any thoughts in trying to self calibrate it ?

1, set the dial in middle and alter the pot so it zeros

2, get a car with recent mot results and alter to compare to that?

i know it ought to be done by a pro but no idea who /where would do ..or any ideas ? these sell like hot cakes on ebay i dunno if someone has the knowledge?

Very Very simple to calibrate, but you will need two concentrations of gas lowish and highish that are within the upper and lower range off the instrument. plus zero air which can be fresh air. The idea is that you introduce known concentrations and check instrument response and adjust as appropriate.

Small cylinders of gas are about £90 quid each and you will need two to do it properly. You can get away with just the high concentration gas but then that's not a proper calibration.

Speak to a company called Ribble Environmental, they do this for scientific instruments, explain your situation and see what they can do to help

Snap on used to do the calibrating for a small fee. Small for Snap on anyway.

It could be worth a chat with your local agent.

Yep forgot about this, can be expensive to replace too

That type of analyser normally self calibrates to zero by being in clean air away from a vehicle, needs clean papers and about three minutes or so to settle down. I had the same model for years and they are very slow to react.
