Does anyone have a weld procedure for welding of galvanised carbon steel electrical cable tray?

Why would you weld a cable tray?

If it's for a project at home, just wire brush the galv off and hold your breath when welding

If it's for an instalation, bolts are the way it's done

No to wire brushing, grinder needed. If it's new stuff don't bother, it will be too thin. I once made a trailer for my racing mini with 1960s scrap cable tray as the runners, lasted forever, thick enough to weld comfortably.

Bolt it, so much easier, if you can, i tend to use stainless and to keep it bent to the position i want it to be prior to offering it up to the job i may tack it with a TIG set and a blob of filler wire.

Maybe i'm biased but stainless cable tray looks so much more pleasing to the eyes and a little thicker/less flimsy.

If you have to pay for it, stainless is much dearer. Difference on a work job, galv was less than half the cost of stainless and will last forever anyway.
