Just wondering if there are any types of scanners that can detect a fibre optic cable buried about 400mm deep. Openreach have just installed a new pole in our village which if it hasn't broken Gigaclear's cable into the village can only be a few mm from the cable. Openreach operatives said they scanned the ground before installing the pole.
The pole is on the opposite side of the road to their existing overhead lines and there are no premises close enough to be connected directly to this pole, so it's purpose is unclear at present.
If these fibre optic cables can't be detected, then I would think many will be damaged in future by thoughtless construction activities where plans have not been properly checked.
I'm sure there's a few on here that know about such things.
