I've just changed the hoses on my gear after 40 years it was Goodyear hose
just bought a set for 20 quid new from auto jumble think there Goodyear as welland what did you put on this time?
all thats stocked about here is the usual run of the mill no name branded stuff which to me lasts no time, not 40 yrs anyways, more like 5 or 6 to me before it shows cracks.
a similar thought did cross my mind too.
stupid question maybe but bar the blue n red colour coding on proper hose whats the difference in it and good quality black fuel line hose from the likes of gates or any fule line hose for that matter ?
is the gas hose that because its resistant to gas and leaving the safety factor aside would the gates fuel line not do the same job and possibly last longer too...?
or am i missing something.
do you not think the centre where the lead goes in the drum --------might get a bit twisted up??it was more to keep it tidy with automatic recoil.....
nope.....just used as a reel to keep it tidy and completely taken of in use. just using the spring recoil was my idea.do you not think the centre where the lead goes in the drum --------might get a bit twisted up??![]()
Yep-------- in the wifes boot--------- for what good it is to herUsually free of charge if you know where to look.
I mean not through the center. I used a velcro strap to hold the end and then released the recoil. it then wound up the cable. pulling it off was the reverse. But the cable going in to the centre has to twist coz the drum is going round, either in or out so if the drum turns twenty times the cable at centre has to twist twenty times that is why all recoils have a swivel arangement in the centre or brushes in the case of lectric ones. when you wrap a cable round a static one you do the coiling and the twist is actually all along the cable, even when you wrap a cable up in your hand you have to do a half twist with your free hand to save each loop twisting, that is why leccies allways run twin and earth off a roller to keep it straight and tidy, because if you just drop it off the side the cable ends up twisted.
id imagine they would be sharp enough money if you got one anyways.I get what you mean, sure it could work for some, sounds like more hassle than its worth for me, my cables are 25m long and 50mm2. hard to find retract reels that could accommodate them i would think....
