Cable avoidance tools, question on batteries

Just a quick question as I would bet that some on here have the old CAT gear, I have picked up a Mk1 detector and 1506 genny, can someone tell me how many batteries they hold, the genny came with a pp3 9 Volt battery and I think it should have 8 1.5 Volt cells in it, similar for the detector please if you can.

Adrian they take eight of the 1.5v batteries. My battery carriers were shot and I bought the ones below that take the same battery, the cover/lid wont screw down because they are fatter. The original CAT ones are slimmer despite using the same battery, if you manage to locate the right ones let me know.

Looks from the pic it's AAs - the battery holder/cassette in my Bronica SQA-m medium format camera looked VERY similar but smaller [difficult to tell].
Sold ages ago otherwise I'd have measured it, but it's academic now as they're like hens' teeth - none by Googling but I have seen them occasionally on the 'Bay. Patience is the keyword but you'd be depending on the seller giving accurate dimensions.

No actual help atm , just another thing to keep in mind.

The detector has a holder like that 8ob, so the unit works off 12 Volts, but it also looks like the detector can have two packs in the case side by side, so I will assume they are in parallel to give more life., so looks like I may be sorted the detector works as far as I can tell need batteries and a pack before I can check out the genny with the CAT!

@8ob just to let you know that I picked up a couple of battery holders for 8 AA cells from Maplins, Code is RK44X at £1.69 each. They do fit in my Genny and CAT and the covers still fit so may be worth a look.
