Buying second hand mig ?

hey guys im looking to buy a second hand mig for a bit of light use every now and again around 180 - 200 amp, I only have 240v power supply,

I have stick/tig r tech set up already but its slow for doing bodywork and the odd roll cage i have to make for my offroaders so a mig would be nice,

I have seen a good few coming up on a irish advert site pretty local to me for around the 400-500 euro mark which brands should i be looking out for ive seen a few lincons and sealy ones but im clueless about the older brands anyone have advice on what to look out for ?

For the work you mention a 150 amp machine would probably do, a 180 amp would be nicer for the occasional heavier work you may be tempted to do.

Because you plan to buy secondhand you have the opportunity to test it out, the seller should be able to show the machine laying a nice weld.

Try to get one with 30 amp minimum settings for the bodywork, if it goes any lower that's a bonus.

If you find something for sale then before approaching the seller, type it's make and model number into the search facility on this forum, more than likely there will be plenty to read.

I don't know what prices are like in Ireland but I bought a 'like new' cebora panther 200 amp 240v mig for £300. It is a dream to use and easily weld body work along with heavier stuff.

My first mig was a Butters 180amp 240v which was probably older than me but again was a dream to work with.

All I'm saying is your best off trying out as many as poss because age of machine shouldn't matter if they've been looked after

you will get a very good mig for €4-500.
donedeal is good,but you might need a bit of patience.you might get lucky and find one immediately,or you might need to wait 3-4 weeks,depending on how far your willing to travel.id stay away from sealey and clarke for that amount,theres always murex,esab,kemppi,lincoln in good condition in 240v

Ha yeah it seems to be always the same when i was in college during the year i saw a good few come up a nice 220 amp lincon for €500 it looked like new in th pics but i just didnt have the money. now that i have a few pound cant see any except for this but it seems to be pricy for what looks like a really old machine,
