The guy said he will accept £60 for it so im going to take it. It is for hobby use probably better i practice first before splashing out on something dear.

well worth a punt for 60 quid it will give u more time to make bids on other lathes without rushing in to get started. just bide your time and something decent will turn up
Def. build yourself a counter-shaft! Couple of plummer blocks, put an ad on homeworkshop.org.uk or check e-bays for some pulleys. Bit of Dexion or summat for the frame. Worth having a look around the local scrap yard as well, tis amazing what you can find.
