buying a trailer or doing one up?

hi guys as you will see i have posted before about doing up a caravan chassis and making it into a trailer the chassis needs alot of work on it so
when i was at the scrappy the other day to look for some new tyres for it the man there said he had a trailer for sale if i wanted it
a brenderup trailer 1205 6.8 x 4ft unbraked in quite good nick i said well yeah
thats something like i am looking for how much you after he said £500 at the time i though well thats not bad as i have looked for trailers this size for along time and never came across any for that price .
any way i told him i would leave the tyres for the caravan and i would have a look the web and read up about theys brenderup trailers having done so i discovered that you can get one of theys trailers brand new for £549!! so what do you think i should offer him for his bear in mine its a few year old and got a smashed brake light or would you not bother at all with it and carry on doing up the caravan chassis ??

I'd just buy the new one to be honest, its designed specifically for the task, and would likely cost you less in the long run!

They will also hold their value more than a home made caravan conversion.

Insurance companies are getting iffy with trailers now. I had a note on my policy last time I renewed that any trailer I towed had to be of an approved make.

I'd go for the new one too, you should get a warranty on it as well.

Dunno about brenderup, but erde trailers which probably cost simillar money new are just cheap things made from pressed tin sides etc

Personally I would rather have a wooden floor/sided trailer over a cheap metal one

i think this one has a wooden floor and alloy sides i suppose there only really made for puting camping gear in and general house holde rubbish not breeze blocks sand and rubble
which i what im wanting to use one for but for 400 quid for a legit plate
and 6.5x4 i wouldent be able to find a solid ifor or batson for that

when you say you can get a brand new un for 549 quid is that the same size ? if it is personally id go for a new un an reinforce the foor

yeah exact same only its down country so would have to travel
and av got the used one down to 400 so hes nocked 140 quid off so not sa bad
just 600 and odd kg laden weigh isent much is it so laft to be careful what i load on it
