buying a mig - advice needed

I'm looking at buying a new mig welder instead of borrowing one. It' for working on a car outside.
I'm currently considering the Sealey Super Mig 150/5 and SIP Migmate 150 Turbo DP Welder. Are either of these any good or does anyone have any recommendations?
Would a gas or gas less mig be better?

Hey ems.
If you have no choice but to work outside, make sure you get one that is gasless, or can be used either with or without.

As Hitachimad suggested fluxed wire is probably the way to go if there is any wind. it's worth checking with the dealer is the polarity of the welder can be reversed. It's best to weld negative earth with gas, and positive earth with fluxed wire.

The SIP Migmate 150 has the advantage of a lower minimum current, but other than that there probably isn't much to choose between the two welders.

You cant run a 150 amp off a normal 13amp plug.Just something to think about.

My 205 amp set runs fine off my plugs.

Oh right,I was just quoting what it says in the instructions of my new toy,probably just covering themselves eh? in case you have very old wiring in your house and set it on fire.

Yes, you shouldn't be drawing that much from a 13 amp outlet on a ring main.
Ideally you should work of a 16amp industrial blue plug, wired up with suitable cable and its own rcd.

If its on flat out its hard to start the arc without blowing the fuse.

But yes, quite right what you wrote mate.
