Butters AMT 211 as a First mig?

Hey guys, new member here. Im a mechanical apprentice, I mostly machine and grind but I'm itching to try some welding. Managed to locate a nice looking mig welder locally. The seller doesn't know much about it as was bought for a son that sadly past away not long after. Only thing he knows about it it cost him around £400. well it looks mint hes asking for £100 with bottle, torch, two helmets and stand. Any advice before I buy it would be great but I need to get back to him asap as he is moving to Canada soon. cheers guys.

not much info or many for sale on ebay etc, but from that response sounds a good machine, il get the cash out then

Search Butters 211 on this website. There are plenty of threads. Butters is an old manufacturer but they didn't produce rubbish. If it is in reasonable nick it is very much worth the money. If you are getting other bits and pieces with it too then it is a no brainer. I would buy one for that price without question. You can't buy a SIP for that money.

A mate had one, good solid British built MIG.
Can't go wrong at £100. Buy it or give me the contact details for the seller!

Bought it. Got some other little bits thrown in for free too . Some issues I found because I had to take the bottle and some of the other stuff to be able to lift it on my own into the car, somebody had put the earth clamp on the torch cable looks a little damaged but I cant get the poxy thing out of the socket to have a good inspection of it. I'l take it to the welder at work tuesday to see if I should replace it. thanks for the advice guys il keep u lot updated

Ha, found why i couldnt get the torch off it still had wire init, i feel like a BLEB now
