Hi, I have Butters NBC 380 mig with a seperate wire feed unit, this wire feed unit has 5 wires from the dc supply, one heavy Positive and a small 4 wire umbilical, 2 of these wires are 46vac to power the wire feed and the other 2 are a relay to make the contactor work in the dc supply.
Now i have another wire feed unit but it powers of the arc, this only has 2 wires coming out for the relay and one large postive going in, the little earth connects to the work peice.
If i try to connect the arc powered wire feed to my DC supply it will not work because it has no power to switch the relay, so the questipon is how do you connect it and do other dc supplys have a constant positive feed to keep the arc powered wire feeder constantly powered on.
Another question is why do we not see seperate wire feeders connected to compact migs that have cheap wire feeders, same sort of problem i suppose, can anyone shed any light here.
I could add in the 46vac supply and adapt it so its the same as the butters but i thought i would ask first.
Thanks
Scot
